Cricket Batting Basics: Cricket Tips for Proper Footwork

If you are an aspiring cricketer, you would believe and support the fact that the most enjoyable facet in Cricket is batting. The ability to hit the ball all around the park and seeing people chasing it gives the best pleasure to a batsman. If you have seen Brian Charles Lara at full swing on the peak of his career, Aravinda De Silva with his masterstroke Pull Shots, or Glorious Drives by Sachin Tendulkar, or massive sixes by Chris Cairns, you probably wondered, does their bat have some extra leather on them or do they use some spring to power those shots?

The key to mark your presence in batting in Cricket is to have the best footwork in the industry to survive. This provides you the perfect timing to execute the shot with optimum power going real distances coupled with watching the ball very closely. The best way to do this is to have proper Cricket Training along with referring to a few Cricket Coaching Sites.

But gradually, you might have settled down convincing yourself, that they are all god gifted players with extra ordinary timing to play the shot. There are many resources where you can find different batting tips which can train you and guide you to play a shot better than what you do presently.

Even I present a piece of my batting tips for the learners of the game.

  • Eyes on the line of the Shoulders: The eyes should always be kept at a level of your shoulders which will always help you to enhance your reaction time to a delivery.

  • First Movement by the Shoulder: When the bowler releases the bowl, the first part of the body that is supposed to move is the shoulder. If the proper movement of the shoulder is done, the entire body will follow suit and the body will be in the best position to execute the shot.

  • Judge the Length of the Ball Early: Though, this is very easier said than done, as most of the players you must have watched on the television have god gifted ability to track the ball from the moment the bowler releases the ball to the time where it makes the contact with the bat. If you can judge the Length of the delivery early, there lays the key to execute a perfect shot you want to.

  • Watch the Ball very carefully: The best batsmen follow the ball from the position where the bowler takes the stride to ball in the next delivery. So, when he reaches the delivery crease, the batsman should make sure to notice the side of the shine of the ball to counter the swing or spin of the ball. Similarly, the spinners can also be judged the same way to determine which way they are going to turn the ball by studying the wrist movement of his.

  • Maintain a firm base at the Ground: When executing a shot, especially a cover drive you need to make sure that your feet are firm on the ground and they are not in a position to bobble over the execution of the shot.

If you are a batsman and willing to improve your Batting Skills, you need to nourish your batting skills by going through these basic steps initially for a highly effective and efficient movement of your foot.
